Why You Should Attend

There are significant and varied opportunities for Pacific Northwest tribes to participate in the energy industry in a manner that strengthens Tribal communities, economies and sovereignty. Policy makers have taken notice of the role that energy can play in the welfare of tribal communities, and the President has made new commitments to the Nation's tribes to support economic diversification and development, especially in the energy sector.

Tribes have the choice of developing energy resources on their own or forming joint ventures and building new alliances with other strategic business partners. They also have or can develop other unique tools for participating in the energy industry. Learning about what leads to successes or challenges can equip tribal leaders to make thoughtful decisions in pursuing various opportunities.

This conference focuses on projects in the Pacific Northwest and energy or power sales from projects outside the region. We will discuss federal and state policies, including the latest moves to promote Tribal economic development in the energy arena, the practicalities of funding projects, structuring deals, and tools for overcoming regulatory hurdles.

Our distinguished faculty will provide practical tips for companies dealing with tribes, and vice versa, and lessons from the trenches for all participants in energy projects in Indian country. This conference is a must for attorneys, Tribal representatives, industry executives and consultants seeking key information on Tribal energy development in the Pacific Northwest.
