The esteemed Union of Concerned Scientists has concluded a 2-year report on climate and clean-energy investments commensurate with those of the new American Clean Energy and Security Act (“Waxman-Markey”), with inspiring conclusions. UCS finds that by implementing Waxman-Markey, Americans will reap net household savings reaching $900 a year, while oil use drops 6 million barrels a day and global warming pollution is cut in half by 2030. All told, the UCS study finds that Waxman-Markey’s clean-economy investments would create $465 billion in wealth each year for Americans.
