Tabor 100 opens 2010 Green Energy Scholarships with partner Puget Sound Energy
SEATTLE, Wash. – Tabor 100 announced the creation of a Tabor 100 Green Energy Scholarship Program at the Tabor 100 “9th Annual Captains of Industry Gala” on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. The $31,500 program, funded by the Energy Efficiency Services division of Puget Sound Energy, is designed to grant up to $10,500 in awards to three college students to encourage their pursuit of a career in a clean energy field. Today, the organization opens the
application process for the 2010 Green Energy Scholarships.
“Tabor 100 is very excited to work with Puget Sound Energy to provide additional college scholarship opportunities for African American students.” said Kevin C. Washington, Education Committee Chair for Tabor 100. “These academic scholarships are a natural expansion of our current scholarship programs, and focus student attention on participation in clean energy fields. We need more minority students to be represented in these burgeoning new
energy arenas.”
Scholarship applicants must live in or come from PSE’s service area and pursue an academic course of study that benefits a green economy. The application process will require students to submit an essay that details their commitment to green practices. Recipients will also have the opportunity to apply for a summer internship at PSE designed to help prepare them for a
green energy career. Full details on the application process are available at the Tabor 100 web site, under the section on Scholarships. Completed applications are due no later than July 16, 2010.
