Clean Energy Works heats up old house

"It’s always enlightening to witness programs move from theory to application.

Take Portland’s Clean Energy Works program. The program helps outfits homes, generally older residences, with newfangled energy efficiency gear. Along with offering tax credits and equipment at discounts, the program allows homeowners to pay for their upgrades through their monthly utility bills.

The program has helped 1,000 homeowners finance their improvements since 2009. Some five projects funded through the project are completed every day."

And the program is putting contractors and their employees back to work.
