Exporting Montana coal doesn’t fuel prosperity

Exporting a dirty fuel to Asia does not lead to long-term prosperity for Montanans. Our water is too precious, and our agricultural economy is critical. Our rail infrastructure should not be burdened with a huge increase in traffic. And preventing catastrophic climate change is too important.

America is moving away from coal. As we have started using energy more efficiently (such as with compact fluorescent light bulbs and more building insulation) and to use cleaner sources of energy (such as wind power), our demand for coal has started to decline.
