'Stop coal exports' protest in Salt Lake City

Protesters in Salt Lake City demanded that Ambre Energy quit exporting coal and move toward clean energy sources.

Peaceful Uprising and the Rainforest Action Network staged a protest Wednesday on the corner of 200 South and Main Street against Ambre Energy, a coal-mining company located in Australia whose North American headquarters are in downtown Salt Lake City. The protest featured street theater, people wielding signs with slogans such as "Stop Coal Exports," speeches from activists and even a guy wearing an inflatable survival bubble.
