"This issue pits the short-term financial interest of Arch Coal against the strategic and economic interests of America," said K.C. Golden, policy director for Climate Solutions. "What kind of economic future awaits our kids if Asian economies do all the manufacturing and innovating and investing while we shovel their coal?"
Arch Coal Inc. on Wednesday jumped into the middle of a controversy roiling environmentalists in the Pacific Northwest by taking a stake in a Washington shipping terminal to supply coal from its Wyoming mines to customers in Asia.
