Climate Solutions Adds Washington State Director

On Thursday, Climate Solutions announced the promotion of Jessica Finn Coven, a clean energy and climate policy expert, to be Washington State Director.  Climate Solutions is a Northwest clean-energy economy nonprofit whose mission is to accelerate practical and profitable solutions to global warming by galvanizing leadership, growing investment and bridging divides.

“Jessica is a proven force. She knows what’s necessary, she understands what’s doable, and she’s a master at closing the gap between the two,” said KC Golden, Policy Director for Climate Solutions.   “Her powerful combination of campaign skills, policy chops, and relentless positive leadership will help propel the Evergreen State to the next level of climate solutions.”

Finn Coven will focus on developing legislative and policy strategies to reduce global warming pollution and grow an equitable clean-energy economy in Washington State. Jessica first joined Climate Solutions in 2007 as a policy specialist and has worked to further clean energy policy in Washington through the state’s Energy Independence Act, Climate Action and Green Jobs law and others.

Prior to joining Climate Solutions, Jessica worked as the program director for the U.S. Climate Action Network. From 2002- 2005, she was a global warming campaigner for Greenpeace in Washington DC. She also spent several months working in Beijing as a policy advisor for Greenpeace China.  Jessica received her MA in economics and energy policy from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and her BA in Mandarin from Barnard College, Columbia University. 

Finn Coven’s immediate priorities will be working with the Washington Legislature to advance clean energy policies in the upcoming legislative session. She will focus on reducing pollution from vehicles while providing options to save drivers money through a mileage-based insurance program and maintaining the integrity of the voter-approved Energy Independence Act.
