Miguel assists the policy team efforts in Olympia by working with the State Legislature and State Agencies to advance Climate Solutions in Washington State. Prior to coming to Climate Solutions in 2007, Miguel gained considerable policy and political experience as the Washington State House of Representatives Senior Policy Analyst for the House Democrats on issues related to Climate, Energy, Technology, Natural Resources, Commerce and Labor. He has extensive executive management experience as the Deputy Director for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources.

Miguel currently consults with other environmental groups, tribes, and social justice organizations. If that already does not keep him busy enough, he teaches yoga, provides counseling services as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and can often be heard during Artswalk playing with his band Los Calaveras. He received his Masters in Counseling Psychology, from St. Martin’s University, a BA in Native American Studies, from The Evergreen State College, a technical degree in Forestry from Peninsula College.
