Mainstreaming climate risk... and clean energy opportunity
Our annual dinner with Kate Gordon in Portland this week laid the groundwork for a season of effective climate action in Oregon and Washington.
At Climate Solutions' annual breakfast on May 4, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray announced that the Port of Seattle lacked the proper permits to lease moorage to Shell's controversial Arctic drilling fleet. Meanwhile, a major business coalition gave its support to the broadest-based climate action efforts in Washington and Oregon.
"The challenge to create a sustainable economy is global – and requires a global response – but I know the Northwest can show the way."
Joined by over 900 allies and leaders from around the region and around the country, we heard from heroes who are using their respective fields as platforms for real climate leadership. We also took some selfies.
Tom Steyer was the keynote speaker for our 5th Annual Dinner in Portland.
