Climate Solutions supports the #StopHateForProfit campaign targeting Facebook’s reluctance to curb hate speech on its platform. We have already stopped spending money to promote our content on Facebook and its co-owned platform Instagram, but we felt it was important to go a step further by expressing our solidarity with Color of Change, the NAACP, and the many other nonprofits and businesses urging Facebook to hit pause on hate this summer.
In addition to the issues raised by the #StopHateForProfit campaign, we also want to express extreme concern about the company’s reported practice of giving climate deniers a special exemption to its fact-checking program and will contact the company and CEO Mark Zuckerberg asking them to stop this practice.
