Wenatchee, WA

Wenatchee, Washington (population 32,000) is located in the north-central area of the state, at the junction of the Columbia and Wenatchee rivers.  It is known as the apple capital of the world, and the “buckle of the power belt of the Great Northwest,” referring to the series of hydroelectric dams on the Columbia River.

In 2010, the New Energy Cities team worked with a variety of stakeholders at the invitation of the Port of Chelan County to chart a path for Wenatchee to be a clean energy hub for the development of electric vehicle technology.
