Right now, Oregon has an opportunity to protect a healthy climate future and deliver justice for communities by restoring our cornerstone Climate Protection Program. As we have shared, this vital program will cut fossil fuel emissions by 90% by 2050 and invest upwards of $150 million annually in clean energy projects for frontline Oregon communities most impacted by climate damage. These historic climate and community protections were derailed after the oil and gas industry sued to overturn the program last year– and it’s up to us to restore climate justice without delay.

We need your help to ensure the CPP stays on track to achieve emissions reductions and deliver impactful investments for front-line communities across Oregon. Join Climate Solutions in sending a clear message to the DEQ:

  • Deliver climate justice by maintaining a strong and effective Community Climate Investments (CCI) program that prioritizes the needs of communities that experience climate change impacts first and worst and ensures near-term investments.

DO NOT reward oil and gas companies by adding more compliance instruments.

  • Follow the science and uphold the emissions cap to ensure near-term reductions.

It requires immediate compliance from oil and gas companies to reduce pollution.

  • Hold industrial polluters accountable for the harm they have caused Oregon communities over generations.

Regulate all emissions from large industrial polluters under the cap.

Justice delayed is justice denied. With climate-fueled wildfires, drought, and extreme heat already threatening Oregon families and communities across the state, we cannot afford anything but the strongest climate action. Thank you for joining Climate Solutions in fighting for a healthy future and a stable climate for all.

The public comment period is open through September 27.

Together, we can make Oregon a leader in climate justice.

Onward,
