King County Executive Dow Constantine, Climate Solutions, and Sightline Institute invite you to a briefing in Seattle with Tom Sanzillo on global coal markets and investment trends, and the implications for proposed NW coal export facilities.
Mr. Sanzillo is a nationally recognized expert on coal-industry economics and global energy trends. He serves as the director of finance for the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis, where he has conducted in-depth economic and financial analysis of coal port development proposals in the U.S. and abroad. He also has published several major reports on the Federal Government’s coal giveaways in the Powder River Basin, which have prompted government investigations into the federal coal leasing program. Mr. Sanzillo has more than 30 years of experience in financial markets, and is the former first deputy controller of New York, where he oversaw the state’s $156 billion pension fund.
Mr. Sanzillo has been closely following global coal markets and will offer perspectives about the prospects for the proposed coal export terminals currently in Washington and Vancouver, BC.
Tom will be joined by Clark Williams-Derry, Research and Communications Director for Sightline Institute, and Ross Macfarlane, Senior Advisor at Climate Solutions. Both Clark and Ross have done extensive work on the finances of the coal export proposals in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia.
Join a group of business executives, elected officials, and non-profit leaders to discuss global coal markets, coal leasing in the PRB, and the economic fundamentals of the proposed coal export facilities.
