Friends of Cooper Island presents George Divoky: Notes from a Warming, Changing Arctic. The Arctic has seen momentous change in recent years, becoming one of Earth’s first regions to offer concrete evidence of atmospheric warming. Seattle biologist George Divoky (whose research for four decades has focused on these shifts) has documented the negative impacts of climate change focusing on the seabirds and polar bears of Alaska’s remote Cooper Island. He’ll share discoveries about the quickening pace of change in the region and what these observations portend for the Arctic as it continues to warm.
