That’s a wrap: 2023 Washington legislative session ends with unprecedented dollars for climate and clean energy development

In 2022, the Washington Legislature built upon the transformational shift we’ve begun in recent years; lawmakers took important steps in a few key areas, but hesitated in others.

With less than three weeks left in Washington’s short legislative session, there are still a number of ways the Legislature can act to cut climate pollution, clean up our buildings, and sustainably fund the clean transportation system we need.

Our hard-won, 2021 legislative wins on climate are motivated by the idea that tackling the climate crisis can help us create good jobs, it must advance the cause of racial justice, and it must begin to redress past harms and prevent future ones. 

No matter how many lobbyists they hire, no matter how many half-truths they tell, and no matter the fear-mongering we encounter—we’re going to keep at it until 100% clean is the law.
