Join the Movement for Black Lives this weekend, as tens of thousands rise up across the continent to defend Black lives on Juneteenth - the annual commemoration of the day in 1865 when the last remaining American slaves were emancipated.
We are in a historic moment both in the United States and across the globe, in which many are answering the call to address the deep systemic racism and white supremacy that permeates every facet of our society. There are many ways to be involved in the movement as Black organizers across our country remind us that to be silent is to be complicit to the system. All of us, including the environmental, climate, and clean energy movements, are called to recognize, condemn and actively change our unjust reality. We recognize that the struggle for social justice is not only inseparable from our mission to address the climate crisis, but also is critical to achieving a just, sustainable, and equitable future.
The Movement for Black Lives is hosting demonstrations all across the country; more events will be added as the week goes on. Find a nearby action or host your own.
