Dear climate and clean energy advocates! You are part of an ever-growing movement to protect the state we love from the fossil fuel industry. They want to tether our future to dirty projects like coal export and oil terminals. But, together, we have pushed back and helped our region earn a reputation for protecting clean water and air, and combating climate change.
Your efforta to stop fossil fuel export terminals are only strengthened by accelerating the statewide transition away from dirty energy sources.
Washington’s communities, the Puget Sound, ocean, rivers, and forest lands are already facing the harsh reality of climate change. It is time to advance to a cleaner economy and transition off dirty fossil fuels.
Right now, we have a timely opportunity to support clean energy bills during the legislative session. Take action: Contact your state legislators now to demand action on climate and clean energy!
Here are some important bills in play this year that support clean energy legislation to combat climate change:
- Price pollution and invest in solutions: The Clean Energy Transition Act (HB 1646/SB 5506) promotes an equitable clean energy economy by investing in clean energy, clean air, healthy forests, and Washington’s communities through a price on the carbon pollution from fossil fuels. This bill comes out of the work of the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy.
- Keep WA SolarStrong (HB 1048/SB 5499): Promotes a sustainable, local renewable energy industry through modifying renewable energy system tax incentives and provides guidance for renewable energy system component recycling.
- Funding to Invest in the Clean Energy Fund: This budget item ensures funds for research and development, investment in “smart grid” technology to maximize renewables, and helps advance electric vehicles.
Beyond the legislative session, we can reduce carbon pollution in Washington State. Climate Solutions is a core member of the Alliance for Jobs and Clean Energy, a growing and diverse coalition here in Washington specifically focused on bringing about an equitable transition to clean energy.
We are powerful communities fueling change across the state and region, and, together, we can achieve equitable climate action.
Take action today.
