The Washington legislative session has started and we are ready to move ahead for clean energy!
Communities across Washington state, from Tacoma to Spokane, have already pledged to go 100% clean. Now our legislature will consider making a statewide commitment to a clean energy transition. The first public hearings will take place this and next week in Olympia.
We now have the opportunity—and responsibility—to make sure our legislators hear loud and clear: we must pass strong climate legislation this year, starting with 100% Clean Electricity.
Join me at the first hearing on 100% Clean Electricity in the Senate Environment, Energy and Technology Committee and show that Washingtonians demand climate action!
WHAT: Senate Bill 5116 Hearing on 100% Clean Electricity Bill, we want to pack the room! Please show up, sign in “pro” (note chances are low they will hear many public comments)

Can’t be there? Call your representatives at the Legislative Hotline: 1-800-562-6000 and tell them to support 100% Clean Electricity!
The details: we want a strong 100% Clean Electricity bill that: 1) establishes consequential interim benchmarks to set us on the path to clean and renewable energy sources; 2) requires we get off coal by 2025 and invest instead in clean and renewable energy sources; 3) fully transitions our electricity system to clean energy by 2045; and 4) accomplishes the transition through an equitable and just path that supports all Washingtonians.
Thursday’s hearing in the Senate, and the following Tuesday hearing in the House, will jump start the action. Please join us to support the work to put in place a cleaner, safer, and vibrant Washington.
I hope to see you there!
