Note: Save the Date for our Climate Day of Action in Salem on May 29!
Together, we’re taking action to make Oregon a climate leader! Legislators just took a key committee vote to advance the Clean Energy Jobs bill (HB 2020B), which is now even closer to becoming law.
Noutw let’s get it across the finish line. Tell your legislators that Oregon needs Clean Energy Jobs!
We've been tracking several critical components to make sure Clean Energy Jobs will be a strong climate policy. And it will! The bill:
- Ps a firm and declining limit on climate pollution in Oregon;
- Holds all large polluters accountable, without exemptions or free passes; and
- Invests in job-creating clean energy projects in communities across the state, including at least half of investments to benefit communities most impacted by the climate crisis.
After this week’s successful vote, the Ways and Means Committee will next take up the Clean Energy Jobs bill. Then the House and Senate will have floor votes and, finally, Governor Brown is expected to sign the bill into law.
We’re getting close! But every step along the way, legislators need to hear from constituents like you that you want them to keep going. We know they will be hearing from the entrenched fossil fuel interests who oppose our transition to clean energy as they’ve been showing up all session putting on pressure to not do this now or to weaken the bill.
We won’t stop until we've set Oregon on course toward a safer climate for our families and kids, and Clean Energy jobs is a key strategy to get there.
Please help keep up the momentum by telling your legislators Clean Energy Jobs is ready to go! Even if you have already emailed your legislator, we’re asking you to do it again so they know we’re committed to passing this historic climate action.
Oregon has never been closer to taking economy-wide climate action. Together, we’re going to get the Clean Energy Jobs bill across the finish line.
