On Friday, Sept. 20, people in communities across the globe are standing up to demand real climate leadership from our elected officials. I'm going to be there to support them. I’m hitting the streets too. Will you join in support for the Global Youth Climate Strike? 

Kids and young adults are asking the adults to step up and do something before it’s too late—as we do still have a window of time to address the climate crisis before it gets way worse. Swedish high schooler Greta Thunberg and many other youth both here in Washington and around the world have inspired a global youth-led movement by beginning  a school strike for climate to remind and inspire others that it isn’t too late to act but we need to now. 
 
Now, young organizers in 117 countries are calling on all of us to raise our voices together next Friday September 20th, with millions of others around the world. Our collective action comes on the eve of the UN Climate Action Summit in New York.

It’s hard to think about the challenges of the climate crisis—especially thinking about the future today’s young people might inherit as adults. We need to remember—and to remind one another and show this next generation—that we CAN act together to slow climate change and mitigate the harms we and others will face...we MUST take the reins of responsibility and do everything we can to leave behind our reliance on fossil fuels...and, by taking action together, we WILL accelerate our transition to an equitable clean energy future.

We were all kids once—so let’s all show up for them now.
